Fun Australian fact for you – An episode of the English show Peppa Pig has twice been pulled off air in Australia after being deemed inappropriate for Aussie children. The episode’s main message... "spiders can’t hurt you"
Huh. When Icelandic TV shows are inappropriate for kids, it's usually for... other reasons ;) grapevine.is/news/2012/10...
Fun quiz question: how many deaths from spider bites have there been in Australia in the last forty years? a) 0 b) 1 c) 10 d) 100 e) 1000
The British should ban an episode of Bluey in retaliation.
Ah, redbacks are OK. They're completely non-aggressive as long as you don't poke them. I'd rather have them than European wasps, TBH. Has anyone mentioned the centipedes yet?
Of course we're all brought up with "spiders can't bite". But my kitchen has had a couple of years of false widows (beautiful, make a hell of a mess) now replaced by something called a green-fanged tube web spider with 4-mm metallic green teeth.
If they’re in Australia, why isn’t this in Australian? Artists need to respect language heritage.
Much as I disapprove of censorship, this makes sense in Australia, where a vast number of things are out to kill you, from giant birds to spiders to jellyfish to razor grass.Much as I disapprove of censorship, this makes sense in Australia, where a vast number of things are out to kill you, from giant birds to spiders to jellyfish to razor grass.
I had read when I was kid a book about Australia where it was written that the animals who were killing the more people in Australia were not the sharks but a very small red spiders whose bites were highly lethal... but I have checked today and it was all BS... bees kill more people than spiders.
