There’s an old Bavarian word that refers to when your eyes go out of focus and, rather than focussing them again, you just stare at nothing for a bit. The word is Goaßschau, which means “goat stare”
This happens to me often and when I’m not in a hurry, I let it happen because it feels soothing.
Yes! Greatest of all time stare!
A phrase in Czech for zoning out, or just generally being absent-minded, is čumět do čumět do blba. It means “staring into stupidity.” And there’s a similar phrase from Austrian German that goes ins Narrenkastl schaun, or “looking into the fool’s cupboard”
I have a goat stare quite often.🐐
