Each and every one of us with a platform has a responsibility to correct others on the truth about asylum seekers claiming benefits and free homes. They can’t. They receive just £49 a week or £9 if given food. Only if and when they get refugee status can they claim or get a job.

So many corrections needed on so many truths, these days

I never know why they can’t be given a temporary work visa as long as they have ID while they await their applications, and then able contribute while they are here, it would give them some feeling of pride and purpose, instead of being left idle. But I’m sure there’s “reasons”

Denying asylum seekers the right to work is self-defeating, especially in the UK with our backlog in claims & slow processing. It entrenches poverty, exacerbates labour gaps & prolongs state intervention. Plus there is no evidence that a right to work would encourage more claims to be made here.

Also, asylum is usually temporary. If they are running from a war, and the war ends, they have to go home.

It’s nice to know I can reply to this without a pile on, but yes you’re right, the propaganda out there with so many false claims just feeds the people it wants feeding. The Tories have deliberately built up hate even though any problems have been because they just stopped processing properly!

Don't know if you have big labour shortage in UK but you should be welcoming with open arms people willing to work in nursing homes, providing home care, driving trucks etc. Know they will have to learn English but many already learning & very keen to work. Speaking Australian experience regugees

To be honest Adil I don't think they have the right to be in this country and for them trying to get a job in the UK is hard for them and to claim asylum.
