Supermarkets in NZ have 30–40% markups and make $1m a day in profit, but can’t keep vermin out of the food. Maybe their new spy cameras could be pointed inwards to spot mice, and the staff could fingerprint us instead. www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zea...
Proof that profits are more important than food safety. It is easy and cheap to design and maintain premises pest free. The range of tools and techniques is very wide. Countdown should rightly suffer customer backlash
After shopping in Japan for two weeks, I know the issue isn’t global supply. Right now I’m quaffing a quality Chilean merlot that cost $6 at a convenience store. I can’t recall the last time I saw any wine in an NZ supermarket for less than $10
There is almost no point in trying to get an interesting, innovative, and oh!, delicious new product to consumers in this country. We literally don't know what we are missing, because the supermarket duopoly are making it pointless to produce it. We've had 20 years of this in our business.
That's just their *excess* profit. That's just their *excess* profit.
The value of food in the Deli section is so low in comparison to the sale price, the margin is very high. It's greed, through and through.
Dont you mean 130% mark ups. ???
