as a side note: the themes of substance abuse are intended as a metaphor for shady's self-destructive behavior as a coping mechanism and are not intended literally.

okay but vic took me through hazbin the other night and then we watched the finale together and ever since i saw angel's spiel about why he acts the way he acts all i can think about is how it's 100% shadycore

obviously the circumstances and methods of self-destruction are extremely different, but the sentiment is still very, very similar (re: the supreme and how she both views and uses her miraculous)

i have a few songs in my shady playlist that allude to substance abuse, but they're in there as a general metaphor for her self-destructive behavior (and how it's an addiction/escape in its own right) so angel being Like That and putting those feelings into words so succinctly definitely made me feel validated in having them there LMAO
