Flit's giving up her space today to the end of Vacation Month which is going out with a grab-bag of scenes. . Clever urban mural #France#Michigan#Canada#England#photography#travel#hiking [more info in ALT]

Wonderfully clever mural of books on shelves and books open to read painted on a building housing (of course) a bookstore in Lyon, France.
A beautiful sunset of streaks of red and purple with a silhouetted tree in Munising in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
A frog stares up from the edges of Peck Lake in Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada.
A yellow rose in a garden in Winchcombe, England, one of the towns we stayed in during our 5-day walk through the Cotswolds. It had rained on us the day before and the rose still had water drops on it the next morning.

It's still raining. It started sometime Thursday night & has gone on with only small breaks ever since but because we've been in a drought or abnormally dry for about 3 months, the ground still isn't saturated. When I walk in the woods, there's no mud or puddles and the creeks still aren't flowing.

Our run-in with Helene has been fairly mild -- all day rain and a high wind advisory but we live in the woods and if there is a lot of wind, the power will eventually go out. It took all day but it went out 30 minutes ago. [We have a generator so we're fine.]

It's the last Vacation Month Friday Digital Archive Dive and all of it is in Aix-En-Provence, #France#OnThisDay#photography#otd#travel [More info in ALT]

This is the Église Saint-Jean-de-Malte in Aix. Viewing it from on Aix's narrow street, building-lined streets makes an interesting photograph. It is a Gothic Roman Catholic church built in the 13th century, mostly in the 1270s.
Steps in a spiral staircase glow in a dark stairwell in the Hôtel de Caumont which is a listed (historically and architecturally significant) hôtel particulier (a large mansion) in Aix that is now used to for art exhibitions. The Caumont was designed by architects Robert de Cotte (1656–1735) and Georges Vallon (1688-1767), and built from 1715 to 1742.
On the table at an outdoor café, the wine in half a wine glass reflects the buildings on one side of the plaza while the top part of the glass lets you see the buildings on the other side.

We're back from a trip to Prince Edward Island & the Fundy area of New Brunswick. We put 3430 miles on the car. Never again, says my back. But I'm glad we went. There's less color in our woods than before we left. All the trees with color dropped their leaves & very little else has turned.

Vacation Month goes for the serene moment. . Oxtongue Lake, #Canada#US#France#photography#lakes#egrets

A slide in the lake, which was very still one morning, is perfectly reflected. Oxtongue Lake is mostly in Algonquin Provincial Park but part of it is not and this slide was part of an accommodation outside the park.
This quiet, rock-bordered cove is part of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in the Upper Peninsula.
Two regrets are reflected in a pond that is part of the many waters, including more ponds, streams and salt marshes, of Ornithological Park of Pont de Gau in the Carmargue in the south of France.
