Here's one of the most alarming maps from the climate reports out this week -- temperature departures from average in the N. Atlantic, where a "Beyond Extreme" marine heat wave is taking place.
With the record warmth in June, 2023 as a whole is now the odds-on favorite to be the warmest year on record in the ERA5 dataset at around 1.37C above preindustrial levels:
