This round of #covid has been worse than on previous occasions, but is still very manageable. I feel like I should be able to go to work tomorrow. My nurses - aka the dogs - have helped a ton. There’s nothing quite so comforting as being covered in dogs when you’re freezing with fever.

Not how I wanted to end the month of September…

Not making as much progress as I had hoped in September, and there’s a pretty good reason: migraines. They’re hitting early and hard this year and I can barely keep my eyes open. I managed to write a few pages today, but was totally incapable of reading primary sources. Tomorrow’s a new day. 🤷‍♂️

Honing and calibrating, three ideas seem to guide how I’m constructing my arguments: - what’s being done? - what’s being said? - how is the news being disseminated? The three are intimately connected. #phd#thesis#thesiswriting 🗃️

Wifey read the introduction and it made her uncomfortable - a bit too positive for Andrew Johnson. She’s right. I’ve recalibrated, but it’s hard to get the tone right. He was a horrible human being, and yet he *could have been* a national hero. His own awfulness got in his way. #phd#thesis

So is @cnn.com actively trying to hurt Kamala Harris’s campaign? It seems like they’ve hit her with additional scrutiny that goes beyond the low-hanging fruit supplied wholesale by the MAGA crew. Like, headlines questioning her social media or “why she’s in trouble.” Is it just about the numbers?

Interesting milestone today: I have at least an introduction to every part of my thesis (except the conclusion). It’s 2/3 drafted and feeling like things are coming together. #thesis#phd
