I think it was Anne Lamott who called it the "down draft," as in "the only job of this draft is to get it down." Stephen King said it as, "you write the first draft with the door closed, the second draft with the door open."
This works for songwriting. The ridiculous things I say in the first draft of a song compared to how I would perform in front of people, is like night and day. The โabsurdโ gets me the interesting* thought, and that thought inspires the language that properly* expresses the feeling. *subjective
