Just missed an Osaka Metro train. Wasn’t even able to walk halfway down the platform before the next train arrived. There are no unexplained 17 minute gaps in service here as is so common at home. It simply doesn’t happen.
Whoops. I busted through 2 GB of Verizon roaming data today so I’ve been demoted to 3G speeds for a few hours. Seems throttled to 1 Mbps which is a heck of a lot better than the old “2G” speeds of basically 0.
Onward to Osaka, gambling with a non-reserved seat on a Nozomi Shinkansen service. Haven’t ever been able to ride one of those (the fastest super-express service on the Sanyō Shinkansen) on the JR pass. We got seats, but not together. Oh well.
