For people who refuse to peer review because they don't get paid for it, does your contract with your university (or place of work) not require you to do service? In my university, service includes service to my field via peer review. Thus, I am getting paid to peer review. Am I missing something?
A piece of advice: ALWAYS schedule out your class syllabi alongside your kids' school schedules. The dates never line up, so plan accordingly!

In grad school, I worked a side job where I would collect seatbelt use data for a traffic psychologist. I would stand on the side of a road for hours and note who wore seatbelts or not. Hours were long, but it paid the bills. I did see some crazy stuff (see below). I guess that one way to tow a car😂
