Some of it is over the top debauchery, though, which I think is a side effect of the Munich "high" society. Have you heard about the 15 liter, €5,500 Champagne fountain incident?
Yes, and i was surprised by how much I really enjoyed the sartorial element - its fancy dress, but it makes sense. Oddly, the event it reminded me of most was The Ashes. A similar blend of tradition, part-playing, exclusivity and pure raucous carnival
There just aren't many events like that in the world with such a long tradition, even if the fest itself drifted away from what it originally used to be in its first few decades.
Always had a prejudice against Oktoberfest - not sure why. It’s not perfect, by any means, but it’s such a delight to see so many people enjoying themselves
Alright, a small celebration for every single step closer to the title transfer, and a big one for the title transfer itself, then, I suppose. 😀
Personally, I'd only celebrate when you've got the title, "Nutzen-Lasten-Wechsel" as they call it in Germany.
We arrived in Nuremberg. Dumped our bags at the hotel and took the tram to Landbierparadies for a beer. Hummel Kellerbier from Holzfass. It's lovely and perfect for a damp autumn day.
