I haven’t been keeping up with romance publishing as much lately ever since I shifted back to mostly genre SFF and horror, but I was active in M/M circles back when that happened. I was hoping that had all been resolved by now considering it’s been, what, 7 years?
AFAIK nobody has been paid (except the people still actively publishing with them, for now).
