Another piece of this that's particularly noxious is, when I was younger, that known trauma was erased in favor of a "biological mental illness" explanation. Now that I'm mentally well(ish)/physically unwell, that gd trauma hx is all anyone in medical establishment cares to see 🙃

Agree with so much of this. Have you read any of Urie Bronfenbrenner’s ecological model? It’s been used a lot by feminist theorists to describe psychopathology and I’ve really come to rely on it (basically, most pathologies are survival strategies that come from adapting to non supportive ecosystems
