Prediction: study preregistration will become much more important in the coming years, not less, despite the recent disaster, and despite it arguably not being real helpful for many kinds of science. Why?
Because it is one of the few deterrents to total fabrication of data (for which there is a growing epidemic), because one has to have at least created a time-stamped record about the study design a long time before one submits a paper.
What do you mean by "important" here Alex? Just trying to work out what this prediction means (i.e. how are you quantifying importance).
