Like 15 years later and I still have burned into my brain a blog post of his with the thrust "I used to play the classic computer game 'Sid Meier's Pirates!' so here's what they should do to fight the Somali pirates"

This is good. I would go even a bit further: Main Character stories are tabloid garbage, pseudoevents re-reported solely for attention capture and monetization. Period. They’re not journalism at all, they “report” nothing new, they’re simply rage bait. The sooner we stop amplifying them the better.

Sometimes I am stopped with the realization that there are so many things from my life I don't remember while the lyrics to the theme song for "Garfield and Friends" are still burned into my brain

I dunno, I like my fantasy games more realistic, you know? Teleporting through solid stone, totally, you see that all the time... but people constantly reading print newspapers?

It's maybe the best set I've found, which makes sense, because everyone knows journalists are super snazzy dressers

I was posting the best possible posts when you were still in high school, man; my only regret is I still haven't been able to fix your inability to recognize Great Posting when you see it

Hadn't actually posted here yet and I realized it's because I'm just paralyzed by the choice of where to post what. 20+ years being Way Too Online and it's the splintering that broke me. Now I'm thinking maybe I give up social media, get super weirdly into like the cast iron subreddit or something
