Iā€™m a quilter and knitting accessories maker (and recovering grad student) who picks a lot of fabrics that have cats on them because who doesnā€™t love cats? #KSQshopknitspinquilt.etsy.com @knitspinquilt on Instagram

A flattened zippered box bag, white fabric with line art of cats with yarn. The zipper and handle of the bag are black.
A large drawstring bag standing up on a gridded cutting mat. The top is black, and the body of the bag is pale pink with line art of various kinds of cats dressed up as sashimi

My friend Rabbi Rachel Weissā€™ Rosh Hashana sermon is both about some of the insidious ways that antisemitismā€” discounting of Jewish experienceā€” manifests in progressive communities, & is a great case study on the importance of relationships in creating and sustaining the real work of solidarity.

How Are You? (Rosh Hashanah 5785 Sermon by Rabbi Rachel Weiss) - JRC: Jewish Reconstructionist Congregation

This year, the most difficult question to answer has been, ā€œHow are you?ā€ We often simply connect with ā€œfine, how are you?ā€ but reality for many of us has felt far from fine and connections far from s...

Honestly a lot of historians could stand to be reminded of this lesson as well, for both primary and secondary sources. There are a lot things that continue to get recycled past their use-by date or simply added again to recipes for which there are much better ingredients out there. šŸ§

Itā€™s one of my favorite things, really. I have to cull my cart so strictly when Iā€™m doing a fabric order or else I wouldnā€™t have room for all of it!

Some of my work with cats in it! One of my Ink Imps enjoying an afternoon in the garden with cats, and a Witch Cottage done for the Codex Obscurus art book from Caurette Books More of my art here: www.gwensingley.com

A cheerful chap sits reading and drinking tea under an arbor in his garden. His luxurious mustache twines up the arbor, blossoming into roses. A small black cat sits on his lap, enthralled by the open book. A big fluffy cat naps nearby.
Itā€™s a witch cottage! That is also a witch! An old ramshackle cottage with thatched roof and crooked chimneys and numerous odd windows and doors and nooks and crannies; but at the same time, it forms the dress and hat of a gnarled old witch, who smirks at us with a knowing look. A black cat roams down the cottage path.
