Am in trouble with my wife and her friend who’s staying with us. Am apparently not taking the presence of ‘giant spiders’ in the house sufficiently seriously. For reference, we’re not exactly talking Shelob.

Solidarity! Under pressure from my son to get rid of the two (they appear to be false widows) spiders that have taken up residence at opposite corners of the skylight in the kitchen.

I have a deal with the spiders. I leave them in peace for most of the year, and they eat all the flies they can find.

I have to collect so many spiders this year, but when the fruit flies pester us, it's also somehow something I have to fix 🙄
