After posting my first long thread on here, I have a couple thoughts. *ahem* PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD LET US SAVE DRAFTS. I HAD TO FINISH THE THEWAD IN ONE GO AND IT TOOK TIL KIKE 4:30 AM. I AM SO TIRED. PLEASE. Also: SOING A POST AG A TIME JS A **B I T C H** GODDAMN. I AM SO FUCKING TIRED!!!
Burning the image of Law’s beautiful, smiling face into the back of his eyelids, Luffy determinedly thinks happy thoughts before slipping back into darkness.
Inhaling the scent he loves so much, Luffy relaxes into his pillow. He’s drifting back to sleep, mostly there, but conscious just enough to hear Law’s “sweet dreams, love” and feel the light press of a kiss to just below his ear.
His love is very smart, after all. /Too smart for his own good, as Ace always says./ But that’s a thought for another day. His mind is far too hazy from the scritches he’s receiving. So he hums to acknowledge Law’s words and shoves his face into the other’s hair.
While it makes him beyond happy to know how deep Law’s feelings for him run, it sounds an awful lot like Law knows something. Something he really shouldn’t. And while Luffy would prefer to keep his secret, the thought that Law might have figured it out is hardly surprising.
Luffy’s eyelids droop as Law scratches behind his ear. Reciprocating the gesture by skimming his fingers minutely along Law’s side. He doesn’t know how to respond to the admission.
Fingers bury themselves in Luffy’s hair and comb the dark locks tenderly, “I’d never want to hold something you can’t help against you.” “Nothing, my love, even if you think it’d change the way I see or feel about you, I assure you if it’s out of your hands, then my feelings for you won’t change.”
Faking a laugh, he hopes his smile doesn’t look more like a wince. “Right, so forget about it and go back to sleep,” Law says as he burrows into Luffy’s chest, his face hidden in his neck, “but if— /if/ for whatever reason something like that were to happen, believe me when I say I still love you.”
“And that there’s no way you’d ever try to kill me. I refuse to believe it’s even a possibility.” Luffy swallows a whine and wishes he could correct Law, but he /can’t,/ so he’s forced to agree, “y—yeah you’re right. It is kinda crazy now that I think about it.”
“I—“ Luffy tries to answer, but nothing comes out. So Law takes that as answer enough, “exactly. It’s ridiculous.” He nods matter of factly, sure of his assessment. “If you ever have a dream like that again, just remember I know you’d never mean to hurt me,” Law tells him.
