On the one hand I think front pages like the above look so obsessive and deranged that the more that tone is common the less it will matter, on the other I do remember (and this was o/c seeing it from afar) the insanity of the Finnish media during their last SDP-led government.

The Mail is an oddity I am reminded. These days as far as influence goes it's more of a closed shop than commentators realize (unless you read it, you deride it) but because commentators don't realize this it has a big impact on how broadcasters cover things.
