19. Llamatron - bright colours and noises and fun 20. Megaroids - the absolute first game I ever played (may also be PD contradicting #16 but I didn't know at the time I was eight years old)

16. Azarian - the first public domain game I ever played 17. Championship Manager Italia - started something of an obsession that only ended in 2014, 21 years later 18. Euro Truck Simulator 2 - thought it was a joke at first but it got me back into PC gaming and I have >1000 hours on this and ATS

13. Night in the Woods - I don't often see any of my political viewpoints represented in games even when it's only implied 14. Life is Strange - it's Life is Strange 15. I Was a Teenage Exocolonist - "The child you were will not return" applies to a lot of this list and the past in general

10. Frontier Elite 2 - sorry I enjoyed this more than Elite 11. Driller - taught me to use a mouse and joystick at the same time, a skill I have now lost 12. Mass Effect - it's Mass Effect, when the legendary edition came out I raced through Virmire to see the citadel approach scene again

8. Deus Ex - it's Deus Ex. I did some game design modules at university and got told off for starting a proposed game blurb with "It is the year...." so I brough the DX box in to make a point 9. Balance of Power - this was a bit facetious for geopolitical reasons

6. Jimmy White's Whirlwind Snooker - I keep seeing this "complete" on Ebay but it never comes with the chalk. 7. Time Bandit - a demo came with my first ST so I spent a lot of time playing this

3. Captain Blood - my first introduction to Weird French Shit With Graphics and Sound, which on the Atari ST is practically a genre on its own 4. Railroad Tycoon - I was also a train nerd kid 5. Yolanda - You kids have Dark Souls et al and we had this and Rick Dangerous

1. War in Middle Earth - this is the first game I ever bought entirely on the basis of being a Tolkien nerd kid 2. Damocles - it's obviously a mostly-empty game world but it feels full of stuff and the references make it seem a bit like a dream (hard to explain)
