alright the people (three replies and my hyperfixation) have spoken, let’s talk about luxury watches with the caveat that luxury watches aren’t my primary specialty and it’s a field defined by a commitment to ticky-tacky details literally called “complications” (a thread)
I think I know where this thread is going. Excited to see if my prediction is correct!
Now I want a Breitling Navitimer and I blame you.
I *love* your hyperfixation on luxury watches bc I always learn so much 😃 (sorry for being an enabler 🤣)
thanks, as a very casual watch fan i enjoyed this sorry if this is obvious but a friend shared this, ie seems like a money laundering / bribery operation
Horology is a gorgeous, complicated field. As with most fine jewelry, luxury watches are hand-crafted by highly trained specialists who absolutely love squinting at tiny objects for 6-8 hours a day. There’s a lot of terminology, and I’m going to try to knock out as many as possible up top:
Yesterday I was thinking about fancy watches, and on a whim looked up the cost of a Cartier gold tank watch just to see if it was something I could treat myself to someday and it sure as heck isn’t. Fossil dupe it is!
It's made of *"solid gold"* 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁🙄
I'm trying to resist the urge to read this thread, because the last thing I need is another expensive hobby.
