Listening to Radio 4's programme on Jacob Bronowski. In a former life I used to work in Lisa Jardine's research group, and what a joy it is to hear her voice on the airwaves again.

I miss my life in academia, and the days working at the desk opposite Lisa's in the hubbub of her busy orbit. (I do not miss scrounging for exploitative short term contracts. The academia of Lisa's day was killed off before my time.)
