Reminds me of the classic setting in early Japanese magical girl shows like Minky Momo, where the protagonists were princesses from a magical kingdom spending time on Earth as a trial of worthiness for the throne - the implication being that life on Earth as a girl was an unsustainable hell.

Was that the message though? Seems you could also frame it as "the evils in the world may seem overwhelming but you can still take em down even if might is not on your side" iirc one of She Ra's creators said they were cribbing from Star Wars with the whole rebel army thing...
