Regardless of who wins this election, it is vital that progressives in their 40s and younger get involved in local politics. Republicans have an outsized influence on politics because they’ve spent 40 years managing the ground game: school boards, town councils, library boards, art councils.

If Trump wins, these small local positions will be the front lines where you have a chance of defending your local community against his monstrous actions. You can slow or blockade local actions on national policy the way republicans in red state do to progressive policy.

THIS. Showing up every four years to vote for president will not change the world. Showing up for every election, local, state and federal? That will change a lot of things. Every time there's an election is an opportunity to nudge the world into a better place.

This makes a lot of sense, but have you considered setting a bunch of money on fire every four years to run for President and get 1% of the vote before going back to doing nothing else in the interim?
