I like that the knife wielding was set up throughout the movie, only for him to go with the shovel at the end. CLONG!

I'm still not sure how much of it is Norman Bates setting off my ND-radar and how much of it is ANTHONY PERKINS setting it off, but Perkins did a creditable job either way!

See, this is the problem. Anthony Perkins is such a noodle that Norman's a KNOWN MURDERER who famously went stab-happy, but he's being bullied by drunk dickheads
The movie's trying to show Norman being jumpy about his history with knives, but in the interest of thematic relevance they've set him to chopping lettuce with a bread knife or something? WTF
