In the days of open by default I did propose that Defra should aim to make EVERYTHING openly available on the web by default, choosing what not to publish, rather than the more conventional approach of choosing what to publish,it didnā€™t fly!

We've made a start on the first 2 with OpenActive.io and Open Referral UK have made some progress on service directories more generally, but there is a lot more to do.

Mashing these together I think there is a very real and increasingly urgent need to think about optimising and utilising data to connect communities. Making it easier for people to understand, find and access services that help them be fitter, healthier, happier and secure.

24 Sept. is shaping up to be an interesting and busy day. I will be speaking on a panel at #DigiGov focusing on Optimising Data Utilisation then heading across town to think about connecting communities with Digital Leaders.
