AQA have optional topics for A Level Physics, though for teachers to choose from rather than for students to learn all then choose from in the exam. I recall research suggesting students are often bad judges of which question they’ll do better on in subjects with optionality… #ChatChemistry

I don’t like the idea for this very reason. The AQA Biology course gives a choice of essay I believe and students don’t always pick the one that leans to their strengths. Or they do realise but it’s too late which makes things worse. #chatchemistry

Having watched my son go through non-science A levels this is an interesting one. Has to weigh up which he knows more about with the challenge of the actual essay question. Better than no choice of a 20 or even 30 mark question occurring on a part spec a candidate knows less about.
