Oh, just realised 1990 was 34 years ago - didn’t realise I had been birding that many years 🤔
It was a good afternoon at Dungeness for sure! #KentBirding 24 years since I saw one on St Agnes and 24 years since dipping the Grain bird with Tracey (who saw it). 24 years of Grain pain released, and what a cracking bird!
A rare bird in West Kent so news of 4 Cattle Egrets at Bough Beech Resr at 4:10pm saw me heading over. They were still present on arrival. I turned round and found 5 more! All 9 birds moved north at 5pm. After lumping the redpolls I’m on 206 species for my BB list (and 235 for West Kent).
Oh yes, a good day out that with the Stepper Point white Gyr at first light and then a detour for this amazingly showy White-billed Diver and bonus first winter Spotted Sandpiper.
Went out again this afternoon and although the target species eluded me I had another Yellow Wagtail (this mornings was my first local bird for 14 years) just two miles from home and a few other bits and bobs. 50 species seen at Haysden before breakfast, another few this afternoon…
Always happy to see some good local birds (and share some ropey photos of them). Yellow Wagtail, alba wagtail, Whinchat & Stonechat. Also: my first two Meadow Pipits of the autumn, two Grey Wagtails and gathering hirundines. 3c when I started was a bit mad though.
Hoopoe, Tonbridge. Nice of it to turn up within five miles of home - it forced me to actually have a lunch break! #KentBirding
Hoopoe successfully twitched in Tonbridge. Apparently been here “a while’ per a resident. #KentBirding
Thank you. Sorry, on just seen this reply! My actual feeling now is that they are just more visible and audible at the moment.
