The US constitution wasn’t based on the Bible, it was based on the principles of the Enlightenment in Europe. People my age were taught this in elementary school. I remember being extremely bored by it. I’m so offended that I now have to defend the homework I tried so hard to avoid.

Yeah pretty sure there was a passing comment in the documents leading to the founding of the American political system that dictates something about “separation of church and state” but I could be wrong here…

I think it is worth asking what purpose Biblical is serving here. It is to allow for overt Christian domination of the US but also to set up conservative constitutional interpretation as divinely mandated. If the founding fathers were instituting a biblical government than we can’t change it.

You don’t have to defend it. We all choose what to speak about & learn from. Many never do either. Hence why this is now. 😉

As far as I know the US constitution is based on the Dutch constitution. I have seen soms original documents in a museum. But we didn’t have a 2nd amendment.
