Why not cycle lanes separate from traffic? Make cycling massively safer.

Quite possibly but I'd also probably need to purchase all the bikes to get a real insight into effect of mass modal shift. Also, if the buses significantky reduce cars on the road then hopefully the roads become safer for cycling anyway.
