Every semester I remind my MFA students (and myself): Rest is part of writing. AND YET. When I employ this advice, the necessity and magic of it surprises me every time.
Shockingly, after taking an unbelievable 2 full days off writing (a whole weekend's worth!) after pushing myself to write every day while also dealing with a family crisis for the past few weeks...today, writing was suddenly fun again! It's almost like breaks are NECESSARY & GOOD. Who knew?
