Yes! AND the assumption that cis women spaces are safe/desirable for/to trans women and femme people is big yikes.

Very much this! I think people are afraid of what saying non-men will mean, because it also means inviting a deeper conversation about masculinity, which also means including trans-men and masc-presenting people, which means it’s not as simple, but imo simple usually equals lazy in these situations.

ok time for my HOT EDITING TIP: if you're describing a group/movement/collective of women that includes trans women, and you want to be inclusive, please just write "women"! or "women, incl trans women"! trans women are already women and calling them "women-identified people" or w/e isn't allyship!

🙌 ALSO gonna add, lumping non-binary people in with women every time just signals that the writer potentially sees enby people as women-lite or inherently femme. For it’s a big no to “women and non-binary people,” and generally yes to “women and femme-presenting people.”
