This is precisely why when anyone asks me (and it happens a lot!) if XYZ tech gives me hope, my answer is “y’all can’t even do ramps. Why would I download anything tech makes to my body?”

And I say this as someone who utilizes power assist for my manual chair, which is a technical feat! It is also something I made damn sure could be repaired by a company of my choice. You would not catch me with cybernetic ANYTHING.
This is also why I get pissed when AI is pitched as something that will help the disabled and therefore is worth whatever it costs. (They say with shiny, innocent eyes.) You're not even doing to the cheap practical things to help the disabled. Hell, you're not preventing more people being disabled.
