THIRD: it’s true that in much of the world, white supremacist organization bans are rare. I want to introduce you to a case where it’s not rare at all: Germany. Over 80 white supremacist orgs are banned; that lets us observe effects of bans over time. 6/

I find that bans are overwhelmingly a) unable to prevent white supremacists from operating, b) unable to stop groups from re-forming, and c) (unsurprisingly) unable to tackle the power structures that make white supremacist activity thinkable. 7/
