Its super handy for sorting. For example in our malaisetraps we have thousands of Diptera and we screen the petri-dish for taxa other than diptera. In a round dish you easily get confused where you have been already. Also perfect for suction sampling samples!

And then you put them in the tubes and push the counters? I am just imagine your workflow. However, looks awesome! We also try to optimise our sorting workflow, but it may depend on the taxonomic identification level (we do most things on family lvl now 🤓)

Ah. I figured it would be something like that. Yes, makes a lot of sense. I always liked to divide the dishes in quarters or so, but with huge samples that's going to be tough for sure 😃. Cool adaptation!
