Something lovely for a change. It is Paddington's 65th birthday today. And this is a piece on how I met Michael Bond shortly before he died, right here, opposite my little boat on the canal in Little Venice, where he had his house and wrote new stories until the very end. Enjoy ;-)!

Ein wunderschöner Beitrag, vielen Dank!
Thank you for an indeed lovely piece. I needed that.
Lovely indeed! Danke für diese schöne Erinnerung, dass es immer noch Gutes gibt, I enjoyed it!
I was lucky enough to meet him once. He was already a childhood hero. Working on British Rail advertising, BR decided to renovate Paddington Station over Xmas '86 and asked for a last minute poster. Paddington gripping a telegraph pole in a high wind required MB's sign off. Lovely man.
How lovely Annette!
Paddington encompasses much of what is nice about being British. He was a great favourite of mine as a child, a Londoner like myself in the days that London was proudly international and multi-ethnic.
Very lovely - thank you!
Thank you! Made me start the weekend with a smile. Interesting takes about what inspired him. Thank you for the persistence on getting to know Michael Bond!
