We had a prof in the department who helped us to develop radical teaching strategies for the course. He was denied tenure, and then went on to have an extremely successful career elsewhere.

My moment was a matter of subjectivity for sure. We were studying some baroque piece I found to be ridiculous, castrati and trumpets, and I got bothered, but what really bothered me is that we had several required music core courses for old music and not a single one for jazz or non-European music.
