The only time I had to construct my own meal in a restaurant I got it badly wrong. I ate the whole bowl of oddly thick, salty soup that was placed in front of me - politely telling everyone it was a lovely - then discovered it was drizzling sauce for the noodles, for everyone to share.

I'm not sure dinner should require detective skills.
