Every once in a while I see this movie up to watch and I think "Oh Halo, I like Halo". This is a bad bad 'movie'. Throughout the focus is dumb shit like honor and glory and is clearly written by someone that's never even seen a war movie.

The main protagonist is your titular 'not by the books' rookie that attempts to avoid conflict but he's reprimanded and proven wrong at almost every point in the movie. There should be examples of his way of thinking working out but they just don't.
