It always fills me with dread when people try to be friends shortly after breaking up with each other. There's too much emotional baggage to do that. You need to distance yourselves from each other for a while before you can try to be friends again.
I was on E for a year and a half, but it really felt like a lateral move. There were things I liked and didn't like about HRT and eventually I stopped. Truly, I like being gender nonconforming
