I've had this on my mind as of late as both a Vtuber and a long-time Yu-gi-oh! Player... Aside from price being the main barrier to entry for the Physical card game, there are other factors that scare my peers away from the game, and I'll list them into a thread here... #yugioh#ygo#Vtuber

I know the game has problems, everyone else who plays it knows that too, but we're doing our best to make the community great and keep the game thriving. We're all Duelists who take pride in being duelist, and we know better than anyone that this game is better with friends.

Learning a new deck is like learning a new Character, once you got it down-pat, you are free to try other decks. Each with a different play-style and each unique to their players. I'm sure I'm not the only one who sees it that way. Yu-gi-oh is fun, but like any game, it takes an open mind to learn

The Hearthstone player Rarran encapsulated the beginner experience quite well and with Farfa's help pointed out the approach to learning the game that made sense. "After learning the basics, picking your deck is like picking your first Champion in League of legends"

We have so many resources at our disposal and we struggle to get new blood in the game because it so hard to learn, not just due to the growing complexity of the game but because very few are able to competently teach them.

Hand Traps such as the War Crime in the OCG known as "Maxx "C" " or "Ash Blossom" to keep your opponent from getting too much advantage, and spells like "Called by the Grave" or the "Triple-Tactics" cards that every experienced player runs play-sets of in their decks are often neglected to mention

Then there's the "Staple" cards, which are cards that EVERY deck plays depending on the format. Rarely do I see players teaching their friends that "Your opponent will use these to mess with you, so you can add these to your deck to fight back"

Most decks interlock their strategy with one or two of the 7 Special Summoning methods, such as "Tenpai Dragon" with Synchro Summoning, or "Branded" with Fusion Summoning, it adds an element to the Deck's Identity.

Each Archetype has its own theme and strategy unique to them, making players gravitate towards them like how some players like Tenpai Dragon and some like Tearlaments. You can't force new players to play Goat format with you forever, they need to experience the rest of the game.

First off is "Archetypes". Many players getting their friends into the game don't seem to teach them anything beyond the basics. Vtubers like Nova Aokami go the extra mile by introducing the people she teaches to beginner-friendly decks and staple cards to help them further
