This is why in the speech he said that People's Alliance still comes first with %40.5 vote rate - not AKP on its own. I'm looking forward to seeing how he would do this!

I think the theme that dominated his speech was to try to find a balance between MHP and the people. He has to do this because now his party does not come first without the support of MHP anymore.

This was the case in 2019 local elections, too. He lost it. But this time, his defeat is bigger, of course. AKP is not the leading party in Turkey anymore - after 23 years

Therefore, when he is not at stake, like local elections, he loses. He did try to turn the election sth about himself, but this time, it didn't work for several reasons. The biggest of them is the dreadful economic situation.
