Again in Cambridge they propose a 12km busway for £250m which terminates in a very busy residential road inevitably leading to bus journeys taking much longer. Plans that a 5 year old could tell you are stupid yet somehow these are the best efforts of local government.

It's just Cambridge. Very busy in the centre. Very difficult to avoid hitting some natural asset on the outside. And a load of people pretending there are magical alternative solutions....

As ever the systems and root causes for decisions arriving at the seemingly nonsensical are wide reaching and highly complex. Having pulled a few threads in local gov in my time, it’s not long before the whole structure of society is implicated at least in part.
