With a leaky snorkel mask and lacking flippers, snorkeling was a bit of a challenge, but that didn’t take away the beauty of sea turtles floating along!

After about an hour’s worth of sweaty hiking up the Christoffel Mountain, we reached the top where we were welcomed by a cool breeze and incredible views over the island. On the rocky mountain top, some rufous-collared sparrows were hanging around waiting for hikers to drop some bread crumbs.

Did you know that sea urchins wear hats? In the tropics, sea urchins tend to grab rocks and other debris from the shallow sea floor to cover themselves with. Like many tourists wearing oversized hats, sea urchins do this to protect themselves from sunlight.
