So just take my word for it - that we have amazing, talented young journos coming up in the world who do good, ethical, illuminating work (and please support and subscribe to good, ethical news publishers so they have the money to hire these awesome new journos!).

Unfortunately we canā€™t publish them in the student publication because they skirt around possibly illegal activities and we donā€™t have a budget for lawyering up or to protect our sources.

They wrote beautiful stories that reflect the realities of living in Australia today, including a story of supermarket workers who ā€˜neverā€™ saw anyone stealing šŸ¤˜šŸ½ and an old woman who runs a covert operation to steal lemons from her neighbourā€™s tree šŸ˜‚

This year, three of my journalism students in Australia separately pitched stories exploring ā€˜ethical stealingā€™ in a time when living costs are soaring so high that people are stealing from supermarkets that have been making so much profit.

ā¤ļø my swirly son. Also his swirly back is from his gentle lazy beautiful golden retriever mum which is his temperament 90% of the time. The rest of him is an unknown energetic protective barky zoomy athletic farm dog dad which is him when he hears someone knocking on the door.

The back of a black half-golden retriever dog lying on the bed with visible swirls on his back. He is lying on a bed with a gentle sunlight shining on it.

I might be naive but my experience of reddit as a general, mostly passive user, has also been pretty nice. But maybe, to your point about buttressing, itā€™s because the subreddits I go to are moderated well.

Many Australians are experiencing food insecurity for the 1st time. Meanwhile, corporate profits (including supermarketsā€™) are hitting record-highs. Iā€™m not an economist but itā€™s clear a large amount of money has been shifted from workers to corporations. www.sbs.com.au/news/article...

Just had a nice lunch with extended members of my Australian family who hold various ideological persuasions. Just want to send out a warning to those preparing for Christmas gatherings: yes, be ready for your uncles aunties and cousins. They WANT TO and WILL talk about politics.
