So just take my word for it - that we have amazing, talented young journos coming up in the world who do good, ethical, illuminating work (and please support and subscribe to good, ethical news publishers so they have the money to hire these awesome new journos!).
Unfortunately we canāt publish them in the student publication because they skirt around possibly illegal activities and we donāt have a budget for lawyering up or to protect our sources.
They wrote beautiful stories that reflect the realities of living in Australia today, including a story of supermarket workers who āneverā saw anyone stealing š¤š½ and an old woman who runs a covert operation to steal lemons from her neighbourās tree š
This year, three of my journalism students in Australia separately pitched stories exploring āethical stealingā in a time when living costs are soaring so high that people are stealing from supermarkets that have been making so much profit.
ā¤ļø my swirly son. Also his swirly back is from his gentle lazy beautiful golden retriever mum which is his temperament 90% of the time. The rest of him is an unknown energetic protective barky zoomy athletic farm dog dad which is him when he hears someone knocking on the door.
Then when they hit 40 they either act 15 or 65. This is how it works.
I might be naive but my experience of reddit as a general, mostly passive user, has also been pretty nice. But maybe, to your point about buttressing, itās because the subreddits I go to are moderated well.

Just had a nice lunch with extended members of my Australian family who hold various ideological persuasions. Just want to send out a warning to those preparing for Christmas gatherings: yes, be ready for your uncles aunties and cousins. They WANT TO and WILL talk about politics.
