So thats the cliff notes. We are in the present now. Yux asked if this was like journaling. In a way it is. Talking to the void. It is cathartic in some ways. It actually to me it felt the most like I was writting a Helen's Hello. Helen used to make a print newsletter of life updates.
Ben and Susie got married. We hosted a bunch of friends from NYC for that weekend. Many took an extended stay and got to be tourists in LA. The house felt like a home. I like collaborative meal prep and collective meal consumption. Reminds be of my old place in San Jose.
My dad, brother and cousin came to visit. It was a good test run of our hosting abilities. It was nice just spending time with my dad. Doing nothing. Talking over coffee in the morning before everyone else got up. These are moments usually sacrificed or rushed. They are also precious. Limited.
By sacrificing sleep and weekends for the next 3 months I was able to finish my USC work on track and on time and my client work off track and overtime.
They want my parents to come to China. Given my parents age that might be a stretch but they are now open to coming to the US next. So maybe as soon as next year they can actually meet.
I end of playing guide and travel coordinator for Yuxin, her parents and her brother. Its fun and they like my itinerary most of the time. But its still work. Its Yux's parents first time traveling internationally and they like it.
Flights in and out of Japan are cheap. Looks like a good way to get home. If we are going through Japan why not take a week there. See Osaka, Kyoto, Tokyo. In-laws: "Were in!"
We still haven't done a honeymoon yet. Every time we do something slightly on our own, Yux is like this is it! But I am holding out for a real planned honeymoon someday.
We get one weekend away in Shanghai. Its is probably my favorite area in China. It helps that Cynthia lives there now, gives us a place to stay and is plugged into whats cool.
Having missed the wedding due to travel restrictions Yuxin's dad decides to throw a reception in China. There is scope creep.
