As soon as finals are done I fly to Hohhot. I get to meet my in-laws in person. I joke that its like that kinda awkward dinner where you first meet the parents of your SO, only it lasts a month and no one speaks the same language.

USC asks me to do a project over the summer to prepare for the upcoming semester. Some good clients ask me to do VR gamedev work over the summer. Yuxin decides we are going to China.. over the summer.

I cant wait until summer. I can sleep. I can catch up on hobbies.

For me this means from 6am to 2pm, mon to sat, I am going on home depot runs for supplies. Teaching in the later afternoon. Pulling nails, stripping paint, sanding on evenings and weekends. The house is still not done but its livable. We can have friends over.

The new semester starts. Housework continues. Yux and I try to save money by using our contractors for skilled work and doing as much unskilled work as we can ourselves.

So far so good through. I have managed all my levels post kidney surgery except the triglycerides. I am used to low-salt, sugar now. Not drinking is easy. Coffee is my only vice. But I really need to exercise more and cut down on carbs. So say we all.

When we got married Yux made me promise to outlive her. She said if I die she will divorce me. Because I am older and a guy, it is an expert level challenge.

I spend a lot of the memorial service thinking about how many of my friends and family have died already. It is inevitable in a way, that someday it will be 100% or it will be you.

Everyone, A lesson Id like to impart: Write your user names and pws clearly on a piece of paper and give it to a friend or family member, someone you trust. Just in case.

Yux and I make an immediate trip up north to help the family put affairs in oder. Its our duty as "The ones that understand computers" Its important work and I am glad i can help.
