I tried explaining this to a Republican in California over on the bird app, and he still insisted the Electoral College was better. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The Electoral College either agrees with the popular vote (which is why pre-2000 we thought it was a quaint relic) or it gives Republicans a Presidency even when they lose the popular vote. So of course Republicans think it is better. It never helps a Democrat.
