I like bacon, maybe onions, but you don’t want a lot. Pineapple on pizza is what it is because it packs a ton of flavor, especially because it’s cooked. Just… keep in mind some pizza places don’t use great pineapple.
But to say it is THE thing, that fucking werewolves is the thing that makes furry furry, is to say that being a nonsexual or clean-leaning furry doesn’t happen. You could make the argument it’s one of, maybe even the most popular pastime, but not the number one reason people are involved.
Except they do. Kink is a core part of the fandom. It’s often a starting point for many people to build their furry identity or find people to interact with. If we got rid of kink, we would be losing a foundational part of what furry is. And yes, it is the thing that many people stay for.
While I agree, I do think that not all of them are saying that it’s not. They’re avoiding it, but they’re not saying it’s not happening. Just that it isn’t the thing that brings us together. We might be kinky weirdos, but being positive, friendly, and inclusive come first.
It’s because if they do it all in one go like that, we’ll all be far, far louder so that other subcommunities will notice and fragment out of FA as well. It might even be enough to spawn a competitor or two.
It’s like I’ve got PCD from re-experiencing what having friends in-person is like.
